The Independent Institute at the Rally for the Republic

Congressman Ron Paul isn’t running for president anymore, but he is spreading a hardcore message of liberty. Opposite the Republican convention in St. Paul, Ron Paul hosted the Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis from August 31 through September 2, which ended with a rally in the city’s Target Center, attended by 11,000 enthusiasts for freedom. The Independent Institute attended as a sponsoring exhibitor.

The speaker lineup was impressive, as was the music, culminating in Dr. Paul’s speech where he called for peace, free trade, civil and economic liberties, limited government, and individual rights, and an end to the income tax, drug war, Federal Reserve, Department of Education, Military Commissions Act, Patriot Act, national ID card, war on terror. He warned against future wars, conscription, and more socialism and corporatism. It was a wonderful event, celebrating the Jeffersonian/libertarian idea, bringing together people of all backgrounds and former ideological and political loyalties. Here’s video from the rally.

Institute representatives Wendy Honett and Diane Raub did a great job setting up and staffing the Institute’s table, seen below.
