Colorado Supreme Court Strikes Down Campus Gun Ban

Earlier this week, the Colorado Supreme Court held that University of Colorado students and employees with concealed carry permits are allowed to carry their weapons on campus.  The University had exempted itself from the statewide law, but the Court held that  the Concealed Carry Act is comprehensive with narrow exclusions (none of which apply to the University of Colorado.)   At base, the Court affirmed that an Act of the legislature making a statewide law is of greater force than a policy decision enacted by the Board of Regents of the University. While this case is a Second Amendment victory, to me it is really more of a simple case of statutory construction and the Regents’ being pigheaded about their policy that was inconsistent with state law.

FindLaw has this article on the decision.
